This
map shows the possible targets of a US air strike against Iran. Since
the US would most likely not engage in a ground war, the strike on Iran
would take on a similar form to the air strikes against former
Yugoslavia with tactical bombings of key sites such as nuclear
facilities, power plants and weapon silos, accompanied by "shock and
awe" type bombardement of civilian targets to humiliate the current
government and the possible use of tactical nuclear weapons for the
first time in history - a step the US have been carefully preparing for
some time (see IPPNW
Website for more information)

This map shows the
strategic importance of Iran for the US presence in the region. With
most other states now under US patronage or influence and the recent US
invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan, Iran remains the only countre point
to US dominance in the Middle East, making this well-rehearsed conflict
a pivotal one for the neoconservatives' plans for contorl over the vast
natural resources of the region.

This map, produced
by Harvard University and UNOCAL, the US oil company (infamous for
pushing the US
administration to attack Afghanistan) and others shows the strategic
importance of Iran as the central country to exploiting Middle and
Central Eastern crude oil and natural gas reserves. It also illustrates
the extensive presence of US and NATO troops in the region, even
without the immense current US presence in Iraq (the map dates back to
2002).

This map shows key
Iranian nuclear facilities - sites that would most likely be targets of
a US air strike against Iran.

| This map, taken from the PSR Study on the health
effects of the use of tactical nuclear weapons against Iran by the US,
shows the spread of radioactive fallout after a bombing of the Iranian
nuclear site in Isfahan. It also shows the mean population exposed to
the fallout, which could well reach up to 100 Million people, dependin
on weather conditions. More on the possible health effects of the use
of a nuclear weapon in Iran can be found in the PSR
Study itself. |
