Dear IPPNW colleagues,

On-line registration for the 20th IPPNW World Congress in Hiroshima started yesterday!

Visit our world congress website http://ippnw2012.org/ , and click REGISTRATION to enter the registration site.

The deadline for early registration is June 30 (Japan time). Please register by then and take advantage of "Early bird" discount. We also offer discounted rates for medical students and members from developing countries.

You can also make reservations for accommodations, technical tours, optional tours and social programs. For more details, visit the registration site.

Finally, if you wish to support medical students who are now vigorously preparing for the student congress and the bike tour between Nagasaki and Hiroshima, check ‘donate for IPPNW medical students’ boxes on the same page where you make an congress application and reservations for social programs.

This February, a group of four IPPNW student members are visiting the Arms Trade Treaty Preparatory Committee talks at the UN in New York City: Ogebe Onazi (Nigeria), Omolade Oladejo (Nigeria), Shannon Gearhart (USA), and Hakeem Ayinde (USA, shown at right).

IDPD Exchange Program PDF Print E-mail

A students’ exchange programme was organised over 4 days between September 14 to 17, 2011 by the young doctors of Indian Doctors for Peace and Development (IDPD), an organization of physicians in India committed to the cause of peace and development in our country and also in the rest of the world as an affiliate of IPPNW (International Physicians for Prevention of Nuclear War), the Nobel Peace prize laureate in the year 1985. The programme comprised of a number of seminars and interactive discussion sessions by young doctors led by former National Students’ RepresentativeDr.AnkitaChoudhary, exchanging thoughts with medical students from ASCOMS and GMC Jammu, GMC Amritsar, DMC Ludhiana, CMC Ludhiana, Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Bathinda, and also students from Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana. They demanded an end to the nuclear arms race and all other forms of violence. Over 1500 participants expressed sincere concern over the dangers of nuclear energy, and urged the governments to consider strong policy decisions to tap renewable sources of energy, especially solar and wind.
