Dear Friends, Spring is here which means IPPNW is close to the drawing of the annual “Give Peace a Chance” Charity Raffle. In case you missed it last year, we have an annual raffle with a $10,000 cash prize. We sell only 200 tickets, which gives you pretty good odds, certainly better than a multi-state lottery. Interesting fact: you are 45 times more likely to be struck by lighting than to take home a $1,000,000 Powerball Prize, and 13,250 times more likely to win the grand prize in our raffle! Last year the $10K prize went to a young German doctor. She was new to the organization and bought her ticket from a friend who sent her an email much like this one. It would be wonderful if someone from Europe was again the big winner this year, but you can only win if you play. Please purchase a ticket in the “Give Peace a Chance” Charity Raffle today and encourage others from your affiliates to get a ticket or two. The draw is on June 17th. 100% of the proceeds will help IPPNW lead a well-orchestrated global campaign to ensure that weapons of mass extermination are abolished once and for all. Thanks and all the best, Caecilie Buhmann

As a ray of light the Irish team of Peter, Paula and Sile would like to welcome you to Dublin in August. We are hosting this year's Doctors In Training conference from August 7th to 9th. Its a way to meet up with old student friends from around Europe, to see how others deal with the transition to being a junior doctor, and try a keep the spark of activism lighting.
On the Saturday we will spend the day in 'The Sanctuary' - a really nice oasis of peace in the middle of Dublin for retreats and meetings.
Paula will be hosting a really interesting workshop on Mind-Body connections, how to keep positive and active in your daily life. She is attending a conference on this in Harvard this month, is a yoga teacher and training to be a General Practioner (family doctor).
On Sunday we will probably go to the hills around Dublin for a walk, and some guerrilla open-air seminars.

Iran and nuclear weapons. A personal reflection.
In the nineteen sixties there were many who believed that there was a military threat from China against Europe. “Optimists learn Russian, pessimists learn Chinese” was a common joke. “Whatever you say, China is hell on earth” I heard a respected politician say in 1965. So I went there to see for myself, together with [...]

Obama Nuclear Weapons Free World: The withering of a vision
President Obama seems to have lost the vision of US leadership on the road to a world free of nuclear weapons. Or did we read too much into his Prague speech?
