The Launching of Target Safety

Target safety was launched in Kano state at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Conference hall on the 17th of March, 2007. Present there was the Assistant Commissioner of Police, the Executive Director of Youth Society For The Prevention Of Infectious Diseases And Social Vices (YOSPIS), the Editor of Daily Triumph News paper, the Director of the Peace Initiative network, the Editor of E – Pulse, the National president of the Students peace Initiative Movement, a representative of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, Hajiya Aisha Yahaya whom was representing Hajiya Jemila Ibrahim Yahaya amongst others. Youths from various places were also present, including students from Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) secondary school in Kano, members of The British Council peace club, and medical students from Bayero University, Kano etc. The occasion started at about 10:35 AM with an opening prayer from Abdullahi Mohammad, followed by an opening speech from the National President of SPIM delivered in person of Mr. Onazi Ogebe. A presentation on the effects of bullets by A. A. Adamu also followed, along with several other events. The launch rounded up at about 1:00 PM. Target safety was formally launched by the chairman of the occasion which was the Director of YOSPIS. The Assistant Commissioner of police expressed great joy and promised to cooperate with SPIM BUK at any time.

Conclusion

Jemila Ibrahim Yahaya, Dr Abdulhamid Dutse (Chief medical director of Aminu Kano teaching Hospital) and Dr. Aminu Zakari Mohammed (Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital) for they have contributed immensely both financially and morally toward the development and launching of TARGET SAFETY.
