In
an effort to render
the upcoming elections for International
Student Representatives as transparent and democratic as
possible, we
are implementing the following procedures:
-As
advertised on the international student listserve, all candidates
interested in running for the position of international
student representative have submitted the following information
to the neutral voting committee chaired by Dr. Andrew Kanter by July 16th (60 days prior to elections):
-a
brief
statement of motivation and goals
-relevant
biographical information
-intended
plan of action for the IPPNW student movement
-University,
country, city and
-expected
year of graduation
-Optional
-a picture can also be provided (best in jpg format)
-The neutral
voting committee has then provided the candidate profiles for posting
on the student website such that everyone may review their candidates
well in advance of the elections.
-National
Student Representatives unable to attend the congress will be able to
cast their vote electronically to the neutral voting committee (one
vote per National Student Chapter cast by the National Student
Representative) no later than 2 weeks prior to elections (September
2nd)
-Everyone
coming to Beijijng will cast his vote as usual
-The
absentee votes will be tabulated by the neutral voting committee and
added to the votes cast by National Student Representatives present at
the Congress, September 16th.
-The results
will be announced at the congress and posted soon thereafter on the
student website and listserves.
The
various regions
may adopt the same procedure as they see fit for election of Regional Student Representative. Dates
may be modified according to decisions
made by the current regional representatives and their respective
demands and
procedures.
Please note
that any active
IPPNW student may candidate, even if they are unable to attend the
Congress. However, votes are only
accepted from National Student Representatives of National Student
Chapters
(one vote per national student chapter whether present or not at the
congress).
There's also
the possibility to mail questions to the candidates at candidates@ippnw-students.org.
