Commemorating
Hiroshima Remembrance Day with a pubilc demonstration in the heart of
the capital of Northrhine-Westfalia, the IPPNW student group
Düsseldorf approached people with the message: "Cities are not
Targets". Of all major German cities, Düsseldorf and Essen are the
only two who have not yet joined the network Mayors for Peace. For this
reason, the students collected support for thir campaign to convince
the city council and the mayor, Joachim Erwin to join the organization.
Due to the beautiful weather, a lot of tourists were on the road so
that visitors from Italy, Great Britain and China were amongst those
who were approached by the activists during the installation.
