ReCap
The Refugee Camp Project
.
The time of ReCap 2006 is 14th August till 10th September 2006
Application Deadline is May 21st, 2006
Apply Now!
What does the project consist of?
The
program begins with a four day conference and workshop in Abu
Dis to familiarize you with the culture, politics and history of the
country. Here, you can get
to know Palestinian medical students and doctors, ask all the questions
you might have and experience hands-on the situation in the Palestinian
territories.
Once equipped with
your new knowledge on Palestine the you and the group will then move to the
refugee camps. The work there will mostly consist of working (and playing) with
the children in the camps in fields such as: language lessons, music
lessons, art therapy and drama, as well as computers and sports.
The participants
will also develop workshops on topics of their choice (1st aid, dental hygiene
etc.) which they will give to the children of various refugee camps in
the Bethlehem area.
For
three days of
the week the group will be divided amongst hospitals and refugee cliniques
and attend morning rounds in order to observe how health care is delivered to the
population and what is lacking and what type of intervention is
necessary.
