ReCap: The Refugee camp Project

• A ten-day workshop at the Al-Quds university in Jerusalem, which will focus on the following topics (see below). The lectures and training will be given by BADIL, UNRWA, UPMRC, as well as other sources, varying each year.
• Introduction into current issues in Palestine and Israel
• Situation of Palestinian refugees
• Children and war
• A social activities programme in the Aida Refugee Camp in Bethlehem, which will last an additional three weeks:
• The mornings will be spent on medical rotations in the local health institutions.
• The afternoons will centre around activities, for instance drama activities or English lessons for children at the camps aged 10-16.

• Be a Medical student at the time of applying preferably should have completed 2 years of medical studies
• Ready and able to attend for the full duration of the project
• Interested in refugee health and working with children (experience preferred)
• Ability to communicate and work in English.
• Interest in activities beyond medical boundaries, e.g. drama and English teaching (experience preferred)
• Capacity to raise funds for participation independently (coverage in special cases possible).
• Health Insurance covering your stay in Israel/Palestine.

The travel expenses will have to depend on the participants' own fundraising (coverage in special cases might be possible). Costs of accommodation, food, local travel expenses will be covered.

• The deadline for applications for ReCap 2008 is May 1st 2008. The time of ReCap 2008 will be July 1st till August 1st.
• Send in copies of the first two pages of your passport scanned by e-mail.

Don't forget that every participant will be required to take care of his own insurance. We'll get back to you and provide you with additional information as soon as possible.
