information
Every
year, Medical Students for Peace and Social Responsibility from all
over Europe meet up in order to introduce each other to their projects,
discuss the topcis that interest them as and plan future initiatives.
These meetings have in the past been wonderful opportunities to learn
more about possibilites to work in the field of medical NGO's, increase
one's knowledge about issues related to peace, social
conflict and medicine, build networks of like-minded medical
students and initiate successful projects and exchanges.
After the extremely successful conferences in Tallin, Berlin,
Dublin and St. Petersburg in recent years, the next IPPNW European
Student Conference will take place in Napoli, Italy on May 11th-14th
2006...
European Student
Conference 2005 in St.Petersburg
The main theme of
Napoli 2006 being "What one person can
change...", the topics of this conference will be, amongst
others:
- Refugees in Europe - their medical situation and what
medical students can do to help them
- Nuclear weapons in Europe - what purpose do they serve and
what medical students can do to abolish them
- Europe 20 years after Chernobyl - the role and the
future of nuclear energy and how medical students can react
- Peace through Health
- Social and
political activism amongst medical students in Europe - how to
establish momentum
Besides this, there
will be ample time to meet and mingle with other medical students from
all over the continent, explore the wonderful city of Napoli, enjoy
a great social program (Pizza included ;) and draw motivation and
inspiration for the months after the conference...
