In
October 2003, a delegation of NWIP students from Europe visited the
North Asian Regional Conference of IPPNW in Kyoto, Japan and introduced
the partipciants to the project.
Below
you will find some impressions and photos
. .
The meeting held in Kyoto was
the “4th North-Asian Regional Meeting, Aiming
for Détente and Nuclear Disarmament in North-East Asia”. When
speaking about
nuclear disarmament the heritage of the Hibakusha is always there.
Hence we
have tried to get Japanese students interested in joining the project.
The presentation
held during the meeting was very brief and had two specific aims: to
get new
students interested and to inform and get the support of the Japanese
IPPNW. We
spoke with many students that had come to the meeting and were able to
get the
interest of the physicians. Present at the meeting was also the Chinese
delegation; we hope to be able to follow up with delegations to China
through
meetings related to the 16th World Congress held in Beijing.
