Past Delegations >>

Introduction

When the Project was begun in 2002, a major goal was to send delegations to each of the currently recognised Nuclear Weapons States. Using a modified form of the Oxford Dialogue Technique, delegations would meet with medical students in these countries to discuss nuclear weapons issues and, importantly, create friendships with our future colleagues.

Since then, the Project has travelled to and held delegations in many countries including India, Pakistan, the U.S., U.K., Russia and China, as well as many other non-Nuclear states. In addition, Project members have held NWIP trainings for fellow students in countries around the world.

Since the 2006 IPPNW World Congress in Helsinki, work by NWIP members has begun to expand, including dialogues and activities aimed at high-school students and the community at large, the incorporation of other projects such as Target X, and an added emphasis on helping facilitate people who are interested to create and maintain their own local disarmament activities.

Reports

At the end of any activity or delegation, a NWIP member is asked to write a brief report on the preparations and outcomes of the event. In particular, the report includes a reflection on the event's strengths and successes, as well as a summary of feedback from participants and the NWIP facilitators.

As the Project continues to grow, these reports are an invaluable resource in the consideration, preparation and planning of a dialogue or other activity. Full of practical advice, the reports help us to continue refining our dialogue technique and improve skills as we work towards peace and disarmament.
