In August 2003 the NWIP was
asked to give a presentation of our methods
and results to researchers and activists from Physicians for Global
Survival
and McMaster University. It was the first time the project was to
present our
results and strategy to an audience and not train university students
and have
awareness raising discussions. The workshop was a great experience. It
was a
true challenge for us to formulate our ideas to a knowledgeable and
critical
audience and through that process further develop the project. During
my stay
in Canada the project was also presented to medical students in
Victoria and I
was asked to be a respondent to the keynote speaker in Hamilton on
Hiroshima
Day. The stay in Canada did not only provide plenty of opportunities
for the
project to be brought to the attention of students and activists. It
also gave
us many ideas of how the project could be improved and it started the
process
of incorporating the ideas of Peace Through Health in the NWIP, which
we have
worked with ever since.
