Currently International Student Representative
Expected Year of Graduation: August 2007

Dear Medical students,

This is Khagendra Dahal from Nepal wishing you a great world conference in Helsinki. It gives me pleasure to announce that due to lots of suggestions from friends from around the world and my ardent enthusiasm to work again and with renewed spirit with the IPPNW students, I have decided to run again for the position of IMSR.

Past involvement

Being involved with IPPNW for last 5 years, I will complete my 2 year term as the IMSR this September in Helsinki. As the ongoing IMSR, many of you already know what we had promised and what we have achieved in the last 2 years. Just to summaries:

Conferences:

We were able to help organize the student conferences in Africa, Europe, South Asia and North Asia. The student conference of Latin American students is in the pipeline.

Tried to seek larger students' roles during the IPPNW conference which will be experienced in the coming up world conference where you can see more students at the main conference.

Tried to have representation of students from Global South in the programs and conferences helping to raise the funds as and when necessary.

Projects:

Old projects like MedEx was given a new makeover and new project like Target X and publication like e-Pulse were started and are run successfully.

Many shortcomings of other projects were tried to remove

One Bullet Stories are given some shape

Relationship with other organizations

We are trying to improve the relationship between IFMSA and IPPNW students. This is working better now in Japan, Germany and many parts of LA

Renewal of IPPNW:

Worked extensively for the renewal of IPPNW spirit, which is still a major uphill task.

Plan of Action:

1. Work for the continuation of the new projects and initiation of other viable projects

2. Work in the spirit of renewed IPPNW and inspire students to work along that way

3. Work to make sure that the students work in IPPNW even after the completion of their studies.

4. Work to ensure the participation of students from global south in the programs and conferences

5. Work for the successful conference on Nuclear disarmament and health in London

6. Work on broad-based youth project like "Hello, it's our future!"

7. Bring out publications of IPPNW students. Make e-Pulse more timely and regular.

8. Help organize student conferences in ME and China.

9. Help make the right use of web for the better face of IPPNW.

10. Work for better doctors-students collaboration and enhance the existing cooperation between them.
