Nominated: "Most supportive cyclist of the tour"

Introduction

Hello everybody! My name is Stephi Rosen and although I personally don´t have any medical skills- apart from being able to handle band-aid and paracetamol pretty decently – through my husband Alex I´ve been well informed about most of IPPNW´s projects and activities for the past seven years. I study Latin American Regional Science in Cologne, Germany and I enjoy travelling and meeting people from all around the world very much. So I am really looking forward to be part of this multi-cultural event this summer and to finally get to know some of the people I have heard so much about over the years.

Motivation

Although the United States and Russia have recently signed a new treaty, pledging to reduce their nuclear arsenals, the truth is that the amount of nukes remaining ist still highly dangerous. So I believe that nowadays, event hough we have left the Cold War long behind, it is very important to remind people of the risk that the existence of these weapons mean to every single one of us. Idealistically, I hope that through the activities during and around the bike tour, we can raise people's awareness of the fact that nuclear weapons are not a concern of the past but, maybe today more than ever before, a threat to all of us - especially because the chance of a terrorist nuclear attac seems to be increasing.
