Hi, my name is Mohammad Rauf Ahmed, I am a dentist in Pakistan and I will participate in the BAN Tour 2010. I am really looking forward to participate in this noble bicycle tour from Germany to Switzerland which can bring awareness of anti-nuclear world among people of different countries.

I've been a member of PDPD (Pakistan Doctors for Peace & Development) and IPPNW for almost 5 years now and have been traveling to different parts of the world to promote the awareness among people against the nuclear weapons, wars and there consequences. As an NSR of Pakistan, I led the delegation of 7 men to India in 2008 for 18th World Congress of IPPNW.

Pakistan I believe is the only country in the world which is a nuclear power but it is financially dependent on aid from other states for development of its economy! Just because of 80% of total budget of government is spent on armed forces for the defense of its border & against internal activities of terrorists. Pakistan is on the top list fighting against the terrorism not only for its own peace, also for the rest of the world who once have been victim from attacks of different groups. Here people are sacrificing there valuables all because of a hope for a better tomorrow for the world and for themselves all because that the Pakistan’s next generation only wants a peaceful, a safer and a healthier world in future.

As a doctor we have to deal with any emergency occurred because of any activity either from terrorism or war, so why not try to prevent this time to arrive by the concept of prevention is better then cure. So I firmly believe that we doctors have an obligation to use our moral authority to call for a terror free world, I will try my best to spread the word about nuclear disarmament especially during the BAN tour.
