Nominated: "Most impressive fall of the tour"

Introduction

Hello, I am Mohamed Geneid, a medical student (Intern) from Ismailia, Egypt. I will participate in the BAN Tour 2010 next summer. I am counting days to be together with all my IPPNW friends sharing one idea, cycling together towards one goal. I am waiting for those days and eager for what we can do.

Motivation

I believe that doctors are not born just to diagnose and cure diseases but because of the noble knowledge they have, they inherited a huge task to be achieved only by them which is raising and securing the mankind; including everything not only from bacteria, viruses, parasites, etc., but protecting people from themselves too.

In the past, the Egyptians were calling the doctor “Hakeim” which in Arabic means the wise man; I think that they believed in that man and what he can do to them. Here comes my dream to see a healthy peaceful world and to be not only a doctor but Hakeim too.

Through my previous activities, I was lucky to arrange workshops, having discussions, talking to public through Target X. I found that it’s really motivating to share your ideas directly with the public without any borders, to go directly to them, touching their minds and updating yourself with an image of what the public knows about your fears and what would be the best way to attract and convince them with what you seem to be right. That’s why I see this BAN tour of great help and so productive, especially after all I heard and saw before from the previous Baltic and London bike tours and witnessed the outcomes and feedbacks from participants and through media. I am looking for the coming BAN Tour and so glad to be part of it.
