| Introduction |
Hi,
my name is John. I'm am member of the Nigerian IPPNW affiliate, a
member of the Nigerian delegation to the world congress in India,
a member of the team that coordinated the endorsement of ICAN by Tuface
Idibia (a popular African music artist) and I look forward to this
tour.

Motivation
|
I wish to draw attention to the dangers
of nuclear war/accidents. I expect to gain experience by participating
so I can organize a similar tour in my country who, by the way, are
leaning towards nuclear energy.
It’s amazing how unaware the world is on the
presence of nuclear weapons let alone its treat to humanity and all its
species. Nuclear weapons pose a constant threat to our existence. We
live in constant fear of a global disaster spun majorly by the fear of
a nuke in the wrong hands. Why have what you never intend to use? Why
spend so much on what can only lead to disaster when people in the
global south suffer for food, water, quality education and different
preventable diseases. Why encourage nuclear energy when we have
cheaper, safer means of energy? Why do we have to live in constant fear
when we can totally abolish them? So many many unanswered questions but
the most important for me would be "why aren't we doing anything about
it?" Every living individual has a role to play in the eradication
of
nukes. I have chosen to go on this tour to create as much awareness as
possible to the threat of nuclear weapons and I know that ICAN, YOU
CAN, and WE ALL CAN put a stop to this global menace. It’s in us.
